Work at Home – Do Something Different

Let’s Work at Home Instead

It may be that when you think in terms of expanding your efforts to earn extra money from home, that you only consider opportunities in the same genre as the ones you already have.  This has its good points organizationally and logically – it will also help you as you won’t need to  duplicate your efforts across the board.

However, it may also be a good idea to do something totally different that doesn’t fit together with anything you are already doing. This could be fun and offer some variety for you.  For example say your home business is one that is centered around affiliate marketing programs. One way to expand might be to offer services for affiliates and to help them promote their business, such as list builders, solo ads, etc. This fits easily into your existing portfolio.

However wouldn’t it be fun to take up a craft that involves your hobbies or interests? For example have you always wanted to try your hand at making something like natural soaps and candles, or baking? This could be fun and may also become another source of income.  A business based on arts and crafts is a lot more labor intensive than Internet marketing; but remember it is for fun and variety as well as extra income eventually.

Don’t do it unless you think it would be fun, as if not you may see it as one-too-many- things to do. You may be surprised that even when someone is totally focused to one thing, that you will find people that are more than willing to change the subject. They may actually be tickled by finding something they want out of the clear blue sky.

Turn Your Hobby Into a Work at Home Job https://t.co/o5MITUuCWU https://t.co/LDuOS2RAZR

One example is a gas station where obviously selling gas is the primary source of income. Usually gas stations have mini-marts where you can buy convenience items while you are there. These mini marts are a good little source of extra income.

However, this could go farther, possibly if the owners for example also make some delicious home-made fried chicken to sell to their customers.  Nobody would be expecting this in a gas station or mini-mart and therefore it has some attraction as a novelty.

You can see how this could go on and on and eventually the gas station becomes incidental to all the other things that were added.

In my experience, even if related to your original concept, try and limit yourself to about three related concepts and do them well.  It will pay you handsomely.

Working at Home Is Information Really Power?

Working at Home– Is Information Really Power?

Yes, information is power but only if you use the information to do something with it.  Just having knowledge while good, does not really do much to help anyone. There are many people that never feel they know enough to actually do something with what they have learned.  They just keep reading and learning and never get off the dime.

This can be referred to as paralysis by analysis for one thing.  What is needed here is a great big dose of self-confidence to feel that you are worthy to take what you have learned and do something useful with it. One of the ways that I’ve found to do this effectively is by using a mentor or by subscribing to programs that have already proved themselves to be effective. This is just so you can believe that you have valuable information and that you do understand it well enough to share it in some way.

There may be other factors at play when someone just can’t get past the learning curve, other than lack of self-confidence. It may be a mechanism that you employ purposely (albeit perhaps subconsciously) to keep you from having to take the next step in your progression.  Maybe you really don’t want a commitment like a home business?

You find it intriguing to think about but when you actually think it is time to get started developing your business, spending money and time, you will always find some other reason that you can’t move forward. In this way it remains a possibility, but you will never have to find out whether you would have succeeded or failed.

One thing that may be helpful in moving past your dilemma (after you admit you have a problem), would be to write things down. They say you are much more likely to actually do something if you write it down and read it periodically. Don’t just read it, actually meditate on it for a few minutes. What does this involve if I actually do something? What would it be like to have a business running at home? Who are some of the people that could benefit if I share what I have learned with them?

While you would think someone with a bank of information may make a great teacher and could start a team that would collaborate to build something, it would also be perfectly acceptable to just use the information to do your own thing. The point is to Just do it.

Working From Home by Taking Small Risks

Working From Home?

Risking our money is not something that everybody can do with the same ease.  For various reasons including past experience and even just the reality of having limited funds, people sometimes really are reluctant to gamble with their money.  Sometimes finding a place to “park” money is a good approach to maintaining positions you’ve already worked hard to achieve. Think asset protection

It is wise to consider your situation when determining if you can take a small risk. However it is really true that many times unless you can afford to take the risk you will have nothing but the same-old-same-old.  So there is a point to ponder.  Living life in general is taking a risk as you never know what the outcome of anything will be, including just walking out the door.

It probably stands to reason then that biting off your risks in small chunks will likely work best for most people.  Where we are referring to a home business opportunity, you can really get an educated guess as to whether or not it is a wise investment.  You can read all about the company on their website and read reviews from others. You can contact the company with questions.  I tend to look for newer ideas, and usually started by people with experience.

Although reviews are useful for most things, you must consider that there are a lot of haters out there and just plain ignorant folks who may try to damage a program or product just because they didn’t like it. That they didn’t like it or do anything to make it work has almost nothing to do with the product. This is why you should read many reviews in different places if you are going to use this method to do your due diligence.

And of course there is the other side, keeping in mind that the website is going to sing the praises and overlook things that are less than stellar about the program or product. However keep in mind particularly with affiliate programs and products where the financial risk is extremely small, that it won’t be the end of the world if you make a mistake.  Almost 100% of the opportunities in this genre have no contracts beyond month-to-month. The risk is low in every respect.

If you happen to lose a few dollars, don’t let it stop you from trying again someday. If you have to let enough time go by that you feel that you can afford another possible small loss, take as much time as you need.  As part of this effort maybe next time decide to invest more time and effort to make something work out. There are very few things that just blossom on their own, even the top earning programs.

My point is simple, don’t just wait until the opportunity passes you by.

What do you see in Costa Rica?

Common question for me when I tell people that I would love to live there.  What do I see in Costa Rica?   Well, let me tell you…

It’s the beauty of the place for starters.  Volcanic mountains with some activity like Hawaii.  It’s beautiful beaches like most caribbean islands.  It’s tranquility.  It’s happiness.  It’s adventure!

I’m hardly an expert on the place and I have a tendency to be impulsive but a ten year plus history of saying that someday I would like to live there is hardly impulsive.  I’ve been there.  I’ve looked at real estate in different provinces.  My preference is the mountainous northern Pacific area, although some friends recently stayed in the Manuel Antonio area in Puntarenas.  I haven’t seen that area yet, so it’s next. manuel antonio[ Photo by: D.Convertini]

Currently, I am vicariously enjoying a book by Nadine Hays Pisani that could my eye in the Amazon Books site:  Happier Than A Billionaire: Quitting My Job, Moving to Costa Rica, and Living the Zero Hour Work Week

This is the first book in the series and I fully intend to do more than just show you pictures of pretty beaches over the next few blog posts.

I also want to explain why I’m learning internet commerce and creating multiple streams of income.  There are some residency requirements involving income in order to live there and I don’t speak enough Spanish to pass their medical boards.  Although, this too might change.  I currently think that I may wish a brick and mortar business related to health care or lifestyle improvement, but you never know until you actual get both feet in the water (or sand) and just do it.

Stay tuned and like and comment.  Appreciate suggestions too.
