Working at Home Is Information Really Power?

Working at Home– Is Information Really Power?

Yes, information is power but only if you use the information to do something with it.  Just having knowledge while good, does not really do much to help anyone. There are many people that never feel they know enough to actually do something with what they have learned.  They just keep reading and learning and never get off the dime.

This can be referred to as paralysis by analysis for one thing.  What is needed here is a great big dose of self-confidence to feel that you are worthy to take what you have learned and do something useful with it. One of the ways that I’ve found to do this effectively is by using a mentor or by subscribing to programs that have already proved themselves to be effective. This is just so you can believe that you have valuable information and that you do understand it well enough to share it in some way.

There may be other factors at play when someone just can’t get past the learning curve, other than lack of self-confidence. It may be a mechanism that you employ purposely (albeit perhaps subconsciously) to keep you from having to take the next step in your progression.  Maybe you really don’t want a commitment like a home business?

You find it intriguing to think about but when you actually think it is time to get started developing your business, spending money and time, you will always find some other reason that you can’t move forward. In this way it remains a possibility, but you will never have to find out whether you would have succeeded or failed.

One thing that may be helpful in moving past your dilemma (after you admit you have a problem), would be to write things down. They say you are much more likely to actually do something if you write it down and read it periodically. Don’t just read it, actually meditate on it for a few minutes. What does this involve if I actually do something? What would it be like to have a business running at home? Who are some of the people that could benefit if I share what I have learned with them?

While you would think someone with a bank of information may make a great teacher and could start a team that would collaborate to build something, it would also be perfectly acceptable to just use the information to do your own thing. The point is to Just do it.

What does this involve if I actually do something? I have a list of leads with everything I need to take action with.  How much effort would it take to actually pick up the phone, use a script, and talk to a live person?  What would it be like to have a business running at home? Who are some of the people that could benefit if I share what I have learned with them?

What do you see in Costa Rica?

Common question for me when I tell people that I would love to live there.  What do I see in Costa Rica?   Well, let me tell you…

It’s the beauty of the place for starters.  Volcanic mountains with some activity like Hawaii.  It’s beautiful beaches like most caribbean islands.  It’s tranquility.  It’s happiness.  It’s adventure!

I’m hardly an expert on the place and I have a tendency to be impulsive but a ten year plus history of saying that someday I would like to live there is hardly impulsive.  I’ve been there.  I’ve looked at real estate in different provinces.  My preference is the mountainous northern Pacific area, although some friends recently stayed in the Manuel Antonio area in Puntarenas.  I haven’t seen that area yet, so it’s next. manuel antonio[ Photo by: D.Convertini]

Currently, I am vicariously enjoying a book by Nadine Hays Pisani that could my eye in the Amazon Books site:  Happier Than A Billionaire: Quitting My Job, Moving to Costa Rica, and Living the Zero Hour Work Week

This is the first book in the series and I fully intend to do more than just show you pictures of pretty beaches over the next few blog posts.

I also want to explain why I’m learning internet commerce and creating multiple streams of income.  There are some residency requirements involving income in order to live there and I don’t speak enough Spanish to pass their medical boards.  Although, this too might change.  I currently think that I may wish a brick and mortar business related to health care or lifestyle improvement, but you never know until you actual get both feet in the water (or sand) and just do it.

Stay tuned and like and comment.  Appreciate suggestions too.

Health Technology and Longevity

Technology and Your Health

Fun things that I have been doing lately always seem to involve either health technologies that I never knew about when I went to medical school.  For example, there is a lot of buzz going on about Redox Signaling Molecules which have been stabilized by ASEA and which have been having great results on Kathy’s skin and I think on mine too.  The concept is simple although the science is not.

Essentially we knew that within the cells of the body, there are many organelles which have various functions.  We know about the nucleus, of course, with the DNA and so forth.  Outside in the cytoplasm are other components.  One of these is the mitochondria which supplied the “energy” for the cell.  This energy came in two varieties, oxidative force and reductive force.  The thought was that if these were in balance the cell was relatively stable and healthy.  Disease happened when the oxidation gets out of balance either from within or without the cell.  Hence the theory that consumption of antioxidants by mouth would enter the circulation, enter the cells, and counteract this oxidation.

What about reduction?  Well the mitochondria produces reduction forces which also “counteract ” the oxidation.  The cell communicates within itself through what are named redox signaling molecules so that the oxidation or cell damage from whatever origin is taken care of.  Sometimes the cell is able to heal itself, sometimes the signal is for cellular death.  And these molecules can also signal a cohort of other cells to do the same thing or another action.   This is a simple explanation of what it’s all about.

In Isn’t All that Hard

No Hard Feelings

Well, it’s harder than I thought.  After all, I had a minor lead in a high school play and I could memorize my lines and perform without any trouble. I’ve stood in front of training meetings and that wasn’t hard at all.   The difference is that the words weren’t my words and the feelings that I have right now to share my journey aren’t easy to express.  I’m going to begin a video blog on YouTube and probably start with something simple like an introduction.  That makes sense anyway.  My short term goal is to express my understanding of the challenges that one faces in early or forced retirement and give some practical solutions that I’ve found.

More importantly, in the long term, I hope to engage with those who want to engage and help them by listening and guiding them on their journey.  The books I’ve read and the stories I’ve heard are all part of the landscape of who I am and who my audience is.  That can be beautiful if cultivate properly and fertilized, weeded, and cared for.

So stayed tuned.  I’ll let you know when the first video is up on YouTube and I look forward to your comments.

Donald
